Puerto Chiapas, march 30 2015.

Based on the terrorist attacks of September 11 against the United States, it was found that the ports and airports were vulnerable, so the International Maritime Organization (IMO), specialized agency of the United Nations with responsibility for safety navigation and prevention of marine pollution by ships, adopted major international maritime security measures in response to these attacks, since July 1st, 2004.
These safety measures include the Code of Protection International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS Code or ISPS by its name in English) applied for the Integral Port Administrations, which requires ships, companies and port facilities to acomplish this relevant requirements of international order. Which allow ships and port facilities to cooperate on detection, prevention and taking preventive measures against security incidents affecting the security of ships and port facilities, used in international trade; and provide a methodology for protection assessments, to have in place plans and procedures to react to changing security levels.
In order to assist and maintain safety standards in Puerto Chiapas, on march 23 the Port Authority of Puerto Madero S.A. de C.V. was submitted to the initial certification audit for ISPS code in which, for 2 days evaluation tours were performed at the security plan of the port facility, ensuring its proper implementation. The audit was attended by the Security Port Facility Officer, Lic. Jesus Hernandez Reyes who provided the facilities and solved the observations of the staff of FIDENA awaiting for the results of the assestment.
