Tapachula, Chiapas January 7 of 2015.

One of the major factors for the operation of a port is its infrastructure and operational conditions, Puerto Chiapas not being a natural harbor needs the dredging of 700,000m3 of silt material, which must be done consistently, providing optimal conditions for commercial vessels up to 30,000 GRT and tourist boats TBR 115,000.
Therefore, on December 29th, 2014 at 9:55 am, Draga type vessel called "Coronaut" arrived to Puerto Chiapas with an 8 person crew from Dragamex Company S.A. de C.V.; a dredger of 85.86 meters long and 2,020 GRT, with a capacity of 2,500 m3 hopper, with which API Chiapas has a contract for 70 days working 24 hours, 7 days a week, for maintenance dredging in the navigation channel, ciaboga dock and dock operations of Puerto Chiapas.

The volume to be dredged in the first stage is 278,000 m3 with an investment of 32 million pesos, in the beginning, bathymetry were conducted to identify priority areas taking to date a physical progress of 14%, which represents 40,000 m3 of dredged sediment (product materials of silt).
This investment will give benefits such as the conservation of official draft of 10.05m suitable for the type of boats that arrive, and maintain the competitive edge of Puerto Chiapas allowing compliance with trade commitments by having a depth of -11m.
