100,000 tons historical

On May 20 this year, the Port Authority of Puerto Madero broke the barrier of 100,000 tons, which over nine years could not achieve with the annual movement of the port.

Derived from this first achievement was held at the building of the Care Center for Container Wharf and Cruises the protocol for the first 100,000 tons of the Port, achieved through consolidated loads in the region.

The event counted with the presence of the Governor of the State of Chiapas Manuel Velasco Coello, accompanied by Mr. Roberto Albores Gleason, Chiapas State Senator, Samuel Alexis Chacon Morales, Mayor of Tapachula, Vice admiral Francisco Ramon Tiburcio Camacho, Commander ZN 14, Cap. Sergio Arturo Jaramillo Guel, Port Captain, Edgar Antonio Reyes González, Director General of API Puerto Chiapas, Ovidio Cortázar Ramos, Minister of Economy, Enrique Zamora Morlet, Secretary for Development of the Southern Border, Juana María de Coss León, Secretary of Finance, Manuel Montoya Moreno, Customs Manager and Ana Luisa Montes Trejo, Director of Gramosa Agroalimentos.

Representing the SCT, Mr. Edgar Antonio Reyes Gonzalez, Director of API Puerto Chiapas thanked all port stakeholders because this achieved was the result of the work of all them, because since the rehabilitation of the port, 13,591 tons were mobilized; in 2009 an increase of 44.49% which meant 19,638 tonnes was obtained, and these amounts compared with the first half of this year grew by 440%. He thanked to customers added so far this year to overcome the barrier of 100 thousand tons, achieved by the export of 50,000 tonnes of sugar de Porres Group, 48 billion tons of titanium from United Industries Cobalt and more seven thousand tons of fish movement. Similarly emphasized that with the support of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT), in this year 254 million pesos will be invested in projects that will give greater efficiency to Puerto Chiapas.

As a thank sign, Governor made the delivery of awards to: Grupo Porres, United Industries Cobalt, Gramosa Agroalimentos, Herdez Del Fuerte, Procesa, likewise, the captain of the ship "Ocean Jewel Cuambot Melchor Lasola", to be partakers of schemes that trigger the economic development of the state, region and country.

Representing the business sector, Ana Luisa Montes Trejo, director of Gramosa Group, after recognizing the teamwork that is done with API said "I see three big opportunities in Puerto Chiapas: harnessing the south neighborhood, generating a bridge of maritime promotion; the significant development of infrastructure for storing large volumes of products; and logistics program for agricultural development, committing to continue working together to make this port a logistics platform for the southern border".

Finally, Manuel Velasco Coello, Governor of Chiapas remarked: "Today we see the importance of Puerto Chiapas to the state and the region, its geographical position for moving cargo and cruise tourism, so we will continue strengthening its infrastructure and to make it a competitive platform for the export and import in the state actions are implemented to consolidate a modern and innovative economic policy focused on sectors that have a high capacity to generate jobs."

Similarly, said his government will continue working on three strategies: security, infrastructure and promotion of Chiapas at national and international level, by announcing the construction of the first Agroindustrial Park in Chiapas.
