Zone of Influence


In the extreme south of Mexico, in the down lands that are extended through Central America, one of the most enigmatic and mysterious cultures flourished. “The Mayan Culture”.

Chiapas, rich region in water resources and forest environment, is a place where some of the most important cities of this civilization were erected. In the margins of the Usumacinta river is possible to admire cities as Bonampak and Yaxchilán; to the north of the State the monumental Mayan capital is located, Palenque, hidden among the thickness of the forest.

To the south, in the region of Soconusco where Puerto Chiapas is located, the archaeological zone of Izapa is found , place in which is possible to appreciate structures covered with stone, carved with representations of mythical and religious character. This region is a very fertile agricultural zone, of great importance for the production of coffee, mango, banana and exotic flowers, among others.

At the beginning of the last century, in this region coffee farms that still continue in operation, were built. And at the same time they have been conformed as tourist attractions. In this zone, the Tacana Volcano ("House of fire") is located” This is the highest volcano of Chiapas and of all the Southeast of Mexico, including 4.800 meters over sea level. Regarding biodiversity, the mangrove swamps, are considered to be the highest of Latin America.
